PASAY, Philippines - The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has reported an increase in departures after a technical glitch experienced on the first day of the new year.

According to BI Port Operations Divisions (POD) Chief Atty. "Carlos Capulong," travelers departing on January 1 only a total of 19,010.

The next day, that number ran at 41,757, and BI continued to process around 34-37,000 travelers a day for the next few days.

BI Commissioner "Norman Tansingco," said he expects the numbers to increase as travelers on canceled flights are rebooked onto new flights.
