[11.17] 17 Chinese nationals deported - BI

PASAY, Philippines - Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner "Norman Tansingco," announced that 17 Chinese nationals will be deported on the afternoon of November 16.

This group boarded the Philippine Airlines plane bound for Wuhan, China, and is the third expulsion group related to illegal online gambling deportations. The BI deported 6 Chinese nationals, while 21 others were deported last November 2.

The 17 are among more than 300 foreigners (mostly Chinese) scheduled to be deported by BI after being arrested by local law enforcement on charges of engaging in illegal online gambling.

According to "Tansingco," Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary "Jesus Crispin Remulla," is closely monitoring the deportation. He added that they regularly submit reports on the status of the remaining deportees to the DOJ.

Those who are deported are automatically included in BI's blacklist and are effectively prohibited from returning to the Philippines.
