[1.18] BI Nabs 3 Chinese Nationals Wanted for Economic Crime

According to the Bureau of Immigration  (BI), FSU (Fugitive Search Unit) agents arrested a Chinese man and two Chinese women on January 8 on suspicion of being involved in economic crimes arranged by the authorities in their home country. 

In a statement, Immigration Commissioner "Norman Tansingco" identified the fugitive arrested in Brgy. Tambo in Paranaque as "Cheung Wa," 56.

"Cheung" is under investigation by the Public Security Bureau of Fuding City for being involved in Chinese economic crimes. He is said to have set up multiple investment companies that have more than 100 victims by pretending to be a real estate company that promises high-interest rates. Due to the fraud, the victims suffered over 40 million RMB, or about 326.5 million pesos.

"Tansingco," said that the two are subject to arrest warrants issued last December by prosecutor’s offices in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, and Shanghai City, respectively.

“Chau Mut Hing” (63) and “Zhang Yi” (50) were also arrested on the same day. The two were arrested at a facility on New Seaside Drive in Parañaque City.

"Tansingco" revealed that the two were subject to arrest warrants issued by Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, and Shanghai Public Prosecutor's Office in December last year.

They were suspected of being part of a syndicate involved in oil smuggling and counterfeit production.

BI FSU Chief "Rendell Ryan Sy," said the three escapees were immediately transferred to Bicutan's BI facility in Taguig where they were held until deportation.
