[1.24] Wanted American Rape Suspect Nabbed in Novaliches

Three years ago, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced it had arrested an American wanted in Texas for sexually assaulting a woman with a disability.

Immigration Commissioner "Norman Tansingco" said in a statement that the fugitive was 68-year-old "Calvert Leroy Cummings," who was arrested by BI's Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) last January 17 in a block in Novaliches, Quezon City.

"Tansingco," said "Cummings' arrest was requested by US authorities in Manila who called for his deportation so he could stand trial for his crimes.

"Cummings" will be deported after a BI board issued a summary deportation order for him, the BI director said he will be blacklisted and prohibited from re-entering the country.

"Cummings," was issued an arrest warrant in Aransas County, Texas court in September 2019 after being charged with aggravated assault against a disabled person,  According to BI-FSU chief "Rendel Ryan Sy".

He then fled to the Philippines to avoid arrest and prosecution for his crimes.

"Cummings" is currently being held temporarily in Taguig's Camp Bagong Diwa internal BI facility awaiting deportation proceedings. #
