[12.13] BI ends the year with things giving celebrations, committing to the more fruitful new year 

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Bureau of Immigration  (BI) Commissioner "Norman Tansingco," led the agency's year-end celebration event held during the week of December 5-9.

A celebration event with the theme of 'Appreciation to the Bureau of Immigration was an opportunity for BI staff to celebrate the accomplishments of the institution.

Tansingco welcomed the new government last July and said it had many plans and projects to improve BI.

Among them is the introduction of electronic transactions and payments for immigration applications. The eTravel system, a joint project of several border control agencies, was also highlighted as a major achievement this year.

Also, before the New Year, an online visa waiver project will be launched to facilitate the recovery of Philippine tourism by allowing short-term tourists to easily extend their visas online.
