MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) officials at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) are asking Filipino residents who plan to spend the Lunar New Year abroad to process re-entry fees at the BI office prior to departure. 

BI Port Operations Division Chief Atty. "Carlos Capulong," said the advice was due to the expected surge in the number of travelers queuing to secure re-entry fees at the immigration offices in the departure areas of the three NAIA terminals.

"Many of these are Chinese who board planes to go abroad to spend the Chinese New Year abroad," said "Capulong." “The result is a crowd of passengers at the airport, which can be avoided if you secure a permit before going to the airport,” he added.

Under immigration laws, foreign nationals who are registered with the BI, holding valid immigrant and non-immigrant visas are required to secure exit and re-entry permits every time they leave the country. This includes permanent residents, foreign students, and workers holding valid ACR I-cards.

Departing residents have the option to obtain the above permits at airports and BI offices nationwide, according to "Capulong."

"Capulong" shared that it secures permits in advance, reducing processing time for residents and giving passengers more time to rest before flying.
