[9.8] Trough of 'Inday' will bring scattered rains over Eastern Visayas

MANILA – Even though Tropical Storm (TS) Inday is expected to bring heavy rains across the country, the trough is forecast to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, the weather bureau said on Thursday afternoon.

Flash floods or landslides are possible due to moderate to at times heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

"Inday" packs maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. The hoisting of tropical cyclone wind signal on any part of the country is still unlikely.

The TS was last tracked 1,045 km. east of Northern Luzon, moving westward at 20 kph. It is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility either by Sunday or Monday.

Starting on Saturday, “Inday” may cause moderate to rough seas over the seaboards of extreme Northern Luzon. These conditions may be risky for those using small seacrafts.

PAGASA advised mariners to monitor for updates and take precautionary measures when venturing out to the sea, and avoid navigating in these conditions if possible.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
