[10.11] TCWS #1 in Luzon Region by TD Maymay

MANILA – Several areas in Luzon are currently under the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 due to Tropical Depression (TD) Maymay, the weather bureau said on Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Authority (PAGASA) announced in the latest weather update these areas are in Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and the extreme northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta).

'Maymay' wraps around the center with sustained winds up to 45km/h and gusts up to 55kph.it was last tracked 300km.in  Aurora, Casiglan is moving from the east to the southwest at a speed of 10 km/h.

Moderate to heavy rain showers are forecast over the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao.

Light to moderate, sometimes heavy rains can occur over Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Aurora, and Kalinga.

PAGASA said it expected widespread flooding and scattered rain-induced landslides, especially in areas highly vulnerable to these risks.

Meanwhile, rough seas are expected over the seaboards of northern Luzon (Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, And Isabela); the western seaboard of northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of central and southern Luzon (Ilocos Sur, Aurora and the eastern coast of Polillo Island, Jomalig and Patnanungan).

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small vessels not to go out into the sea, and larger vessels were wary of big waves.

"Maymay" may decelerate and generally move southwest in the next 48 hours.

It is expected to make landfall in the southern Aurora and northern Quezon regions on Wednesday. (PNA)
