[10.13] Heavy rain continues in parts of Luzon

Manila-Some areas of Luzon will continue to experience heavy rainfall even as weather disturbance Maymay weakens into a low-pressure area (LPA), the weather bureau said on Thursday.

Moderate to heavy rains are forecast over Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao.

Light to moderate, with at times heavy rains, will prevail over the rest of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said recent weather forecasts could cause widespread flooding, and rain-driven landslides, especially in areas highly vulnerable to these hazards. 

Associated with enhanced northeast surface wind currents, high to high gusts are still likely to occur over Batanes, Cagayan, CAR, and Ilocos regions.

Rough to very rough seas are expected on the coasts of northern and central Luzon and the east coast of southern Luzon.

These conditions are dangerous for those using small boats. PAGASA advised sailors to take precautions when going to sea and to avoid sailing in these conditions if possible.

The LPA was last tracked off the Casiguran coast in Aurora and is expected to disappear within 12 hours, PAGASA said. (PNA)
