세부에 본부를 둔 노동단체인 수보-킬루산 마요 우노는 필리핀 통계청(PSA)의 빈곤에 대한 최근 자료가 정확하지 않다고 믿고 있습니다.

Cebu-based labor group Alliance of Workers in Sugbo-Kilusan Mayo  Uno believes recent data on poverty from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is not accurate.

The PSA says Filipinos are not considered poor if they can spend more than 18.62 pesos per meal.

It is clear that the government has reduced the list of the poor in the country. This is a form of continued oppression of the poor so that the government no longer feels the need to address their needs," said "Jaime Paglinawan," president of AMA Sugbo-KMU.

They want to challenge government officials to live on a 20 pesos budget for every meal.

“So they will know that this data is not enough for a person to live properly and the economic crisis needs to be addressed urgently,” added "Paglinawan.“

He also called  the agency for allegedly inconsistent, compared to a report from the National Economic and Development Authority.

In 2018, NEDA released a study that a family of five would need 42,000 pesos per month or 1,400 pesos per day to survive.

“We also see that they will use this as a reason to say that the national minimum wage, that is based on the living wage clamoring for private sector workers, is not justified,"Paglinawan" said."

AMA Sugbo KMU has lobbied for a higher wage increase than the recent 31pesos which was  implemented across the board in Central Visayas.
