[8.26] NDRRMC: 3,700 individuals remain in evacuation centers due to 'Florita' onslaught

MANILA — About 3,700 people are still in evacuation centers after the "Florita" attack in Luzon this week, the state disaster response agency said Friday.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in recent monitoring that the figure consisted of 776 Families.

The 37 victims were still in evacuation centers in the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Cordillera administrative region, and Metro Manila, the report said.

According to the NDRRMC's 8 a.m. report, four people were injured and three people died.

Social worker spokesperson "Romel Lopez" said the government has distributed 7.2 million pesos worth of humanitarian assistance to affected individuals.

Of these, 4.8 million pesos came from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), 2.1 million pesos came from local government units, and the rest came from NGOs and other partners.

For those affected by Florita, about 760 million pesos of rapid response funds are available in his agency's central office, and about 30 million pesos worth of funds are available in Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and CAR.

He added that the agency has enough waiting funds to last until the end of the year.
