마닐라 — The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas(BSP)는 이번 달 물가상승률이 5.9~6.7%를 유지할 것으로 예상합니다.

수요일 성명에서 중앙은행은 이번 달 물가 상승률이 “핵심 식품 가격의 지속적인 상승에 따른 것”이라고 말했다.

그러나 이 요인은 "글로벌 유가 하락, 전기 요금 하락, 육류 및 생선 가격 하락, 페소화 절상으로 부분적으로 상쇄될 수 있다"고 말했다.

"앞으로 BSP는 지속 가능한 경제 성장에 도움이 되는 가격 안정성에 대한 BSP의 명령과 일치하여 가격 압력의 추가 확대를 방지할 수 있는 시기 적절한 개입을 가능하게 하기 위해 밀접하게 나타나는 가격 동향을 계속 모니터링할 것입니다."라고 덧붙였습니다.

국내 물가상승률은 지난 7월 6.4%로 더욱 가속화돼 2018년 10월 이후 가장 빠른 속도로 상승했다.

현재까지 평균 물가상승률은 4.7%로 올해 정부의 목표치인 2~4%를 웃돌았다.

BSP는 올해 물가상승률을 평균 5.4%로 예상했다. (PNA)

[8.31] BSP eyes August inflation between 5.9%-6.7%

MANILA — The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) forecasts the inflation rate to stay between 5.9 to 6.7 percent this month.

In a statement on Wednesday, the central bank said the rate of price increases during the month “was driven by the continued increase in key food prices.”

It, however, said this factor “could be offset in part by the decline in global oil prices, the reduction in electricity rates, lower meat and fish prices, and appreciation of the peso.”

"Looking ahead, the BSP will continue to monitor closely emerging price developments to enable timely intervention that could prevent further broadening of price pressures, consistent with BSP’s mandate of price stability conducive to sustainable economic growth,” it added.

The domestic inflation rate further accelerated last July to 6.4 percent, the fastest since October 2018.

The average inflation to date stood at 4.7 percent, higher than the government’s 2 to 4 percent target for this year.

The BSP forecasts inflation this year to average at 5.4 percent. (PNA)
