MANILA – Fair weather with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms will prevail across the country on Monday, the weather bureau said.

A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is not expected to enter the country, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster "Aldczar Aurelio" said.

He said Typhoon Inday is still unlikely to bring heavy rains across the country. However, PAGASA forecast gusty conditions reaching strongly to gale-force winds over extreme Northern Luzon until Wednesday "due to the channeling of the typhoon circulation in the Luzon Strait".

"Inday" is currently causing rough seas over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon (Batanes and the Babuyan Islands).

The typhoon now packs maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 190 kph. The hoisting of a tropical cyclone wind signal remains unlikely.
