[10.10] LPA with the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone

MANILA - The last detected Low-Pressure Area (LPA), 450km east of Tuguegarao city in Cagayan, could develop into a tropical storm within the next 48 hours, the weather bureau said on Monday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Authority (PAGASA) said in an advisory issued at 7 a.m. that normal and heavy rainfall will hit Cagayan within the next 24 hours due to the effects of the LPA and shear lines.

Cagayan, Batanes, and The  Babuyan Islands are expected to experience sporadic showers and thunderstorms.

Flash floods and landslides can be caused by regular or occasional heavy rains.

Light to moderate rainfall, with occasional heavy rains prevailing in Batanes, Northern Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, and North of Ilocos.

Flooding and rainfall-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas highly sensitive to these hazards and in areas with a significant rainfall.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be showered by localized thunderstorms.

Strong winds and rough seas dominate the northern Luzon region.
