[10.29] Paeng is landfall in Camarines Sur

MANILA – Severe Tropical Storm Paeng made landfall in Camarines Sur on Saturday after crossing the southern tip of Catanduanes.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in a weather bulletin at 5:00 a.m. that the center of paeng was estimated to be near Siruma, Camarines Sur, and was moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 30 kph. 

Maximum sustained wind speeds near the center are 95 kph, gusts are up to 160 kph, central pressure is 985 hectopascals (hPa), and strong storms extend outward up to 560 km. at the center.

By 11:00 am, PAGASA forecast that a severe tropical storm will be over the coastal waters of Botolan, Zambales.

TCWS No. 1 has been hoisted over Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, the rest of Aurora, the rest of Nueva Ecija, the rest of Pangasinan, the rest of Oriental Mindoro, the rest of Occidental Mindoro, the northern portion of Palawan (El Nido, Taytay, Dumaran, Araceli) including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, and the rest of Masbate.
