MANILA - "Prospero de Vera" Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (CHED) distanced himself from his sister after he was arrested for his involvement in Operation "Communist Terrorism."

Philippine police said on Thursday that "Adora Faye de Vera" was arrested in the city of Quezon. 

Authorities claim that "Adora," a martial law survivor, was an officer of the CPP-NPA-NDF. Police say she faces multiple charges, including multiple murders and Rebellion.

On Friday, Ched said he "hopes and prays" for safety and health after "Adora" was arrested, but he hasn't seen her for a long time.

"I haven't seen her and haven't spoken to her for more than 25 years since she decided to rejoin the underground movement," he said in a statement. "I don't share her views or support her actions."

"Prospero" emphasized President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s support for the administration and an effort to end a communist revolt that destroyed many lives and properties."

"The law will allow the process to take place in resolving the allegations against her," an education official added.

"Adora" was a victim of martial law torture in the Philippines under "Ferdinand Marcos Sr.," the father of Marcos Jr.

She is one of the survivors of martial law who filed a historic lawsuit against the deceased dictator in a federal district court in Pennsylvania, and is a U.S.-based legal counselor representing the Philippine plaintiffs.

The U.S. court eventually ruled in favor of nine plaintiffs, including "Adora," "Celsa Hilao," "Danilo Dela Fuente," "Renato Pineda," "Domiciano Amparo," "Rodolfo Benosa," "Jose Duran," "Josephina Porcadilla," "Arturo Revillaa," and "Gerry de Guzman."
