마닐라 - 메트로 마닐라, 웨스턴 비사야스, 카가얀 밸리가 올해 렙토스피라증 환자 수를 가장 많이 보고했다고 금요일 보건부(DOH)가 밝혔습니다.

1월 1일부터 8월 6일까지 약 1,411건의 질병이 기록되었다고 보건부가 말했습니다. 이는 1천157건이었던 2021년 같은 기간보다 22% 높은 수치다.

전체 렙토스피라증 환자 중 수도권이 19%(263건)로 가장 많았고, 웨스턴비사야스가 12%(171건), 카가얀밸리가 12%(169건) 순이었습니다.

메트로 마닐라는 73건의 새로운 사례(29%)를 기록했고 센트럴 루손은 35건(14%)과 카가얀 밸리는 22건(9%)을 기록했습니다.

DOH 담당관인 "마리아 로사리오 베르지레"는 언론 브리핑에서 비콜 지역, 중앙 비사야스 및 다바오 지역이 지난 4주 동안 경계 및 전염병 문턱을 위반했다고 말했습니다.

렙토스피라증 관련 사망자는 총 188명(13.3%)으로 보고되었습니다. 그 죽음은 다음 달에 일어났습니다.

발열, 두통, 오한, 근육통, 결막 질식(붉은 눈)이 특징이며, 뇌막염, 발진, 황달(피부와 눈의 황색 변색) 또는 신부전이 적은 빈도로 나타납니다.

만약 여러분이 이 장마철에 홍수로 내려가는 것을 피할 수 있다면, 전혀 내려가지 마세요," 라고 "베르제이어"가 말했습니다.

"정말로 필요하다면 부츠를 신읍시다. 만약 부츠가 없다면, 플라스틱을 신으세요, 집에 도착하면 발을 깨끗이 씻으세요.

"발에 상처가 있다면 즉시 보건소에 가서 렙토스피라증에 노출된 후 예방을 받으세요," 라고 그녀가 덧붙였습니다.

[8.26] NCR, Western Visayas, Cagayan Valley lead in leptospirosis cases: DOH

MANILA — Metro Manila, Western Visayas, and Cagayan Valley have reported the highest number of leptospirosis cases this year, the Department of Health (DOH) said Friday.

Some 1,411 cases of the disease were recorded from Jan. 1 to Aug. 6, the DOH said. This is 22 percent higher than the same period in 2021 when there were 1,157 cases.

Of the total leptospirosis cases, the capital region accounted for 19 percent or 263 cases, followed by Western Visayas with 12 percent or 171 cases, and Cagayan Valley with 12 percent or 169 cases.

Among all leptospirosis patients, the capital region was the largest with 19 percent (263 cases), followed by Western Visayas with 12 percent (171 cases), and Cagayan Valley with 12 percent (169 cases).

 In the period from July 10 to August 6, 2022, when 251 cases were recently counted, the same region had the highest number of cases except for Western Visayas.

Metro Manila recorded 73 new cases(29 percent), followed by Central Luzon with 35 cases (14 percent) and Cagayan Valley with 22 cases (9percent).

In a press briefing, DOH officer-in-charge "Maria Rosario Vergeire" said the Bicol Region, Central Visayas and Davao areas have violated alert and epidemic thresholds in the past four weeks.

A total of 188 leptospirosis-related deaths or 13.3 percent were reported. The death occurred next month.

Leptospirosis is a disease transmitted through mud or water contaminated with urine from infected animals, DOH said. 

It is characterized by fever, headache, chills, muscle pains, conjunctival suffocation (red eyes), and less frequently by meningitis, rash, jaundice (yellowish discoloration of the skin and eyes), or kidney failure.

If you can avoid going down to the flood during this rainy season, don't go down at all," "Vergeire" said.

"Let's wear boots if we really need to. If you don't have boots, wear a plastic, when you get home wash our feet thoroughly.

"If you have a wound on your foot, go to the health center immediately and get prevention after exposure to leptospirosis," she added.
