마닐라 — 목요일 발표된 Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas의 데이터에 따르면 은행을 통한 현금 송금은 7월에 2.3%로 최고 29억 2천만 달러에 이르렀습니다.

BSP는 성명에서 이 총액은 지난해 같은 달의 28억5000만 달러보다 많다고 밝혔다.

BSP는 "2022년 7월 현금 송금 확대는 육상 및 해상 근로자의 수취 증가로 인한 것"이라고 말했다.

데이터에 따르면 1~7월 기간 동안 현금 송금액은 182억6000만 달러로 같은 기간 177억7000만 달러에 비해 2.8% 증가했다.

중앙 은행은 미국, 사우디 아라비아, 싱가포르, 카타르의 송금이 올해 첫 7개월 동안 증가에 크게 기여했다고 말했습니다.

한편, 7월 개인 송금액은 32억4000만달러로 지난해 같은 달보다 2.3% 늘었다.

이에 따라 첫 7개월간 개인 송금액은 203억 달러로 전년 대비 2.7% 증가했다.

일부 경제학자들은 송금의 계절적 증가가 올해의 마지막 분기 동안 미국 달러에 대한 페소화 약세를 뒷받침할 수 있다고 말했습니다.

[9.15] Cash remittances up 2.3 percent at $2.92 billion in July: BSP

MANILA — Cash remittances coursed through banks reached a high of 2.3 percent to $2.92 billion in July, according to data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas released on Thursday.

The total is higher than the $2.85 billion in the same month last year, the BSP said in a statement.

"The expansion in cash remittances in July 2022 was due to the growth in receipts from land-based and sea-based workers," the BSP said. 

In the January to July period, cash remittances reached $18.26 billion, higher by 2.8 percent compared to the $17.77 billion in the same comparable period, data showed. 

Remittances from the US, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Qatar contributed largely to the increase during the first 7 months of the year, the central bank said.

Meanwhile, personal remittances amounted to $3.24 billion in July, also up by 2.3 percent compared to the same month last year, BSP data showed.

This brought the total personal remittances for the first 7 months to $20.3 billion, which is 2.7 percent higher year-on-year, it added.

Some economists have said that the seasonal increase in remittances could provide support for the weakening peso against the US dollar during the last quarter of the year.
