MANILA – “Neneng”  has made landfall on Cagayan's Calayan Island,  after intensifying by a severe tropical storm, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday.

In a  tropical cyclone bulletin at 5 a.m, the weather bureau said “Neneng” was located over the coastal waters of Calayan, Cagayan at 3 a.m. with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 115 kph, moving west-northwestward at 20 kph.

PAGASA said 'Neneng' reached the severe tropical storm category at 2 a.m. on Sunday and "could be further intensified" by the typhoon.
