[10.18] LTFRB Investigates 'Surge' Billing Claims for PUV Rates

MANILA – The LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) is currently studying a petition request by the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Drivers and Operators Group to add a “Surge” fares to traditional and modern Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) and the public utility bus as well (PUB).

In a statement on Tuesday, the LTFRB said the petition was submitted on Friday by Pasang Masda, the Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (ALTODAP), and the Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization (ACTO).

According to the petition, transportation groups are seeking higher fares per kilometer during rush hours and peak hours."

It assured PUV drivers and operators that their petition was being heard and understandable due to the continued rise in fuel prices.
