[10.19] 2 weather systems to bring rains over parts of PH

MANILA - Shear lines and southwesterly ground winds will bring rain to parts of the country, the weather bureau said on Wednesday.

Both will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said sudden floods and landslides could be caused by regular and occasionally heavy rains.

The rest of the area will be showered due to local thunderstorms.

On the other hand, the cyclone over the Philippine Sea developed into a Tropical Depression Obe.

Obet provides sustained winds of up to 45km/h and gusts of up to 55km/h near the center.

Finally tracked 1,055km. East of extreme Luzon Northern 

Obet expects occasional heavy rains in Babuyan Island, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and northern mainland Cagayan from Friday.

A tropical cyclone wind signal has not occurred in any part of the country, but northeast surface wind flow will cause strong winds in the northern part of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Cagayan, Apayao, and northern Ilocos in the next 24 hours.

Winds associated with the northeast surface wind flow also cause rough or very rough seas on the northern, eastern, and western coasts of northern Luzon.
