마닐라 - 필리핀과 한국이 코로나바이러스 감염증 2019(Covid-19) 대유행으로 인한 제한 아래 국방 관계를 강화하기로 약속했습니다.

이에 국방부(DND)와 대한민국 국방부는 10월 19일 제2차 국방공동위원회를 소집했다.

회의는 DND 차관 "Franco Nemesio Gacal"과 한국 국방부 차관 "신범철"이 공동 발표했습니다.

DND 대변인 아르세니오 안돌롱(Arsenio Andolong)은 주말 성명을 통해 "한-필리핀 방위 관계와 관련하여 가칼 차관은 코로나19 대유행의 제한에도 불구하고 양국의 국방 및 군사 교전이 계속되고 있음을 강조했다"고 말했다.

두 관리는 또한 마닐라와 서울 간의 방위 관계를 더욱 강화하는 방법에 대해 제안을 교환했습니다.

안돌롱 장관은 “필리핀 측은 필리핀군 현대화 프로그램에 대한 한국의 지속적인 지원에 감사드린다”고 말했다.

양측은 남중국해·서필리핀해·한반도 안보 상황과 동남아시아국가연합(ASEAN) 다자협력 등 한-필리핀 방위관계 전반에 대해 의견을 교환했다. .

DND 대변인은 "지금까지 신 차관은 최근 몇 주 동안 북한의 탄도미사일 발사에 대해 간략하게 소식을 전했다"고 덧붙였다.

안돌롱 대통령은 또 “한국 측도 필리핀의 지속적인 지원에 감사드린다”며 “한반도의 완전하고 검증 가능하며 불가역적인 비핵화를 추진하겠다”고 말했다.

그는 “양측은 특히 아세안 국방장관회의(ADMM)-플러스에서 아세안 산하 다자간 이니셔티브에 대한 지지를 표명했다”고 덧붙였다.

회담은 양국이 안전하고 안정적인 인도-태평양 지역을 위한 노력을 재확인하는 것으로 마무리되었습니다. (PNA)

[10.24] PH and SoKor commit to continued defense relationship amid due to pandemic

MANILA - The Philippines and South Korea have pledged to strengthen their defense ties under restrictions due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

In response, the Department of National Defense (DND) and  The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea (ROK) convened a meeting of the 2nd Joint Defense Cooperation Committee on October 19.

The meeting was co-presented by DND Undersecretary "Franco Nemesio Gacal," and South Korea's  Defense  Vice Ministry "Shin Beomchul."

"Regarding Philippines-ROK defense relations, Undersecretary "Gacal" highlighted that the two countries' defense and military engagements continue despite the restrictions of the  covid- 19 pandemic," DND spokesperson "Arsenio Andolong," said in a statement over the weekend."

The two Officials also exchanged suggestions on how to further strengthen defense ties between Manila and Seoul.

“The Philippine side appreciates ROK's continuous support for the Philippine Armed Forces (AFP) Modernization Program,” "Andolong," said."

The two sides exchanged views on the security situation in the South China Sea, the West Philippine Sea, and the Korean Peninsula, and the overall progress of the Philippines- ROK defense relations, including multilateral cooperation under the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

A DND spokesperson added, "So far, the Vice Minister "Shin" has given a brief update on North Korea's ballistic missile launches in recent weeks."

"Andolong," also said the South Korean side would also thank the Philippines for its continued support and promote the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

"Both sides have expressed support for multilateral initiatives under ASEAN, especially at the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting (ADMM)-Plus," he added.
